For the American Express Unstaged series, Executive Producer Joe Killian and his creative team decided to draw viewers in through storytelling. Each musical artist was paired with a renowned director to create short, compelling vignettes. Among the creative teams were Spike Lee and Pharrell; Terry Gilliam and Arcade Fire; Scarlett Johansson and Ellie Goulding; and many, many more.

Viewers were invited to join in each collaboration by controlling camera angles, choosing encore songs, uploading photos and tweeting questions to the stars. The popular series was awarded Clio, Effie, Webby, and One Club honors, and was short listed for a Cannes Lion.
